Former Military Prosecutor Detained by Taliban in Parwan, Raising Concerns of Continued Rights Violations [8am] Local sources have reported the arrest of a former military prosecutor by the Taliban ![]() in Parwan province. According to the sources, the prosecutor, identified as Zakaria, was apprehended on Tuesday, June 20th, by Taliban intelligence forces at his residence in the village of Khoshkak, Sheikh Ali district. Zakaria had previously served as a military prosecutor in the army of the former government, stationed in Herat ...a venerable old Persian-speaking city in western Afghanistan, populated mostly by Tadjiks, which is why it's not as blood-soaked as areas controlled by Pashtuns... The motive behind the arrest of this esteemed military official remains unknown at this time. The Taliban have refrained from commenting on the matter, leaving many questions unanswered. It is important to note that ever since assuming power, the Taliban have detained and imprisoned numerous civilian and military prosecutors who served in the previous government, across various regions of the country. Tragically, some of them have even fallen victim to acts of murder. Human rights organizations have repeatedly accused the Taliban of gross violations of human rights One man's rights are another man's existential threat. and pointed out their vengeful actions against former government officials. Youth in Bagram District Humiliated and Beaten for Trimming and Shaving Beards: Sources [8am] According to local sources in Parwan province, the Taliban ![]() have been publicly humiliating and punishing several youths in the Bagram district for trimming and shortening their beards. On Thursday, 22 June, residents of Bagram district have sent consistent messages to Hasht-e Subh, stating that the Taliban’s virtue promotion and vice prevention personnel have been patrolling the district’s roads for the past month, taking action against individuals who have violated their rules. One resident from Bagram district said, "The Taliban’s virtue enforcement personnel have been punishing young people on the roads for the past month, questioning why they have trimmed or shaved their beards." The source added, "As a result of these issues, the youth in Bagram district are either migrating or discreetly moving around in the Bagram market." The Taliban have not yet commented on the matter. The Taliban’s restrictions on the social lives of people, including the closure of schools and universities for girls beyond the sixth grade, have consistently received criticism from international institutions. However, a clean conscience makes a soft pillow... these criticisms have not led to any changes in the group’s policies. Previously, the Taliban had also subjected young people in various provinces of the country to humiliation and punishment for trimming or shaving their beards and hair.
