ISIL claims responsibility for detonating power pylon in northern Kabul
2021-10-24
[KhaamaPress] Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
in Iraq and the Levant officially grabbed credit for detonating a power pylon that cut the main power line to Kabul and left the Afghan capital in complete darkness since Thursday.

In a statement released on the Telegram channel, the group said that the soldiers of the caliphate detonated a bomb on an electricity pylon in Kabul, to damage the electricity sector.

The power pylon exploded in the northern Shakardara district of Kabul that cut Kabul’s and other provinces’ electricity that is yet to be reconnected.

Sources have told Khaama Press that the power to be reconnected by the Saturday evening, October 23.

Afghanistan’s ministry of interior affairs on the other hand said that they have arrested three people accused of detonating the power pylon but did not say if the people were ISIS fighters.

Afghanistan’s electricity sector is largely dependent upon imported power as the country imports 80% of its electricity from Iran, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.

Detonating power pylons, especially in the north of Kabul is not a new story, the pylons would be detonating during the previous government that inflicted millions of Afghani financial loss to DABS- de Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (Electricity body of Afghanistan).

#2  At this point the Talibs are loudly declaring that ISIS-Khorason is not a threat. I suspect they are also blaming all violence on ISIS rather than local guerilla groups, particularly in Northern Alliance territory.

#1  I'm waiting for the Taliban to refer to this as terrorism.
I want to hear it.
