Gunshots mar anniversary observance in George Floyd Square
2021-05-25
[HotAir] The headline is a quote from Associated Press reporter Philip Crowther, who understandably worried where dozens of shots came from — and where they were going to as well. The journalist happened to be recording a video segment on today’s anniversary of the murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis, using what’s now known as George Floyd Square as a backdrop. The shots rang out just as Crowther started to make a point about police reform efforts in Congress:
Really, it's not funny. But it's so hard not to laugh...
“We’re okay, we’re okay,” a voice reassures Crowther, but not necessarily by much.
"Incoming! Incoming!"
The shooting actually took place one block over from Floyd Square, apparently still within the unofficial “autonomous zone” where police usually are reluctant to tread:

#19  Gunsex. In the USSA.

To honor a Wakandan shahid who died of a combined fentanyl and meth overdose, while resisting a lawful arrest, after he stuffed his mouth full of more fentanyl to bring on a seizure.

Who was a lifelong violent felon who jabbed his gun into the belly of a pregnant ant woman and threatened to blow her and her baby to smithereens if she didn't feed his drug habit.

Is there a better, I mean, more disgusting, despicable, depressing symbol of this nation's rapid descent into third-world status than this quasi-Palestinian frenzy over a world-class douchebag?

#18  They should do this nightly. Like Disneyland's evening parade and fireworks show. It could be Minneapolis' tribute to BLM and Saint George. Just think of the tourist dollars and mugging possibilities.

#17  the George Floyd sainthood movement dishonors the tens of millions of hard working, tax paying, law abiding blacks

#16  A great many of is don’t honor Floyd or the black power movement this travesty of recognition promotes. To cite Maxine Waters, we need to push back hard at every instance of this racist intimidation tactic agains white people.

#15   Fred installed a limit of < 3 links, IIRC, due to some old-timey trolls that would linkfest their posts

It did fix the spam/troll problem, but completely changed how I presented arguments thereafter.

#14  The reason so many people die in dem cities is the same reason Floyd died in custody. Physical conflicts while drugs are in your system causes death.

#12  Gunshots! People have no sense of tradition any more. The proper way to honor George Floyd would be to put some fentanyl up your butt and OD in solidarity.

#8  We have come very low as a country. Honoring an armed robber, petty criminal, and drug addict.
