Encouraging Illegal Aliens To Remain In The US Is A Crime, Supreme Court Rules |
2020-05-12 |
[DAILYCALLER] The Supreme Court unanimously upheld a federal statute that forbids encouraging illegal aliens to remain in the U.S. unlawfully in a decision Thursday. The Supreme Court justices voided an earlier decision by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, which had ruled that a federal anti-harboring statute was unconstitutional on the grounds that it violated the First Amendment by restricting free speech. The ruling by the nation’s highest court Thursday upholds the law. The Supreme Court not only vacated the appeals court’s decision, but also criticized the judges for "drastically" straying from judicial norms. Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a liberal stalwart of the bench, wrote the high court’s opinion. "[T]he appeals panel departed so drastically from the principle of party presentation as to constitute an abuse of discretion," Ginsburg wrote, and later stated that "a court is not hidebound by the precise arguments of counsel, but the Ninth Circuit’s radical transformation of this case goes well beyond the pale." #8 Hope. Change. Some of our elites' decisions are so unbelievably foolish and destructive that even reliable lefties such as Justices Ginsburg and Sotomayor are willing to call BS on them. Tolerance of illegal immigration is one such policy. Let's hope a similar reaction happens wrt our mind-bogglingly asinine policy of tying our economy tightly to China's. |

#7 #5 SUSANNAH LUTHI, 12/27/2019 A bastion of liberalism in the federal judiciary is slowly turning rightward, threatening Democratic court challenges on everything from abortion to who gets a green card. The Senate confirmation of Lawrence VanDyke and Patrick Bumatay to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals this month brought to nine the number of appointments President Donald Trump has made to the 29-member bench that serves as the last stop for nearly all legal complaints lodged in nine Western states. Democratic-appointed judges now hold a three-seat majority, compared with 11 at the start of Trump's presidency. |

#3 No, they rule the 9th violated procedural grounds and have sent it back for 'reconsideration'. Maybe enough of it has been flipped that the 9th will now reaffirm Congress's Constitutional authority and law regarding immigration. |
