Iraqi troops kill Al-Mahdi army leader in north-east Baghdad |

The release added that two Iraqi soldiers were killed when the deceased commander opened his automatic machinegun fire on them. The Iraqi police said yesterday that the Iraqi and US forces killed Al-Sadr office chief Kazem Al-Hamadani after storming his home in Huwaider village, Diala. |

#5 Not worth a post, but here is an article on Mahdi Army infiltration of Iraq forces. http://www.realcities.com/mld/krwashington/16600612.htm Knight-Ridder agency isn't known for optimism. They write off the new Baghdad intervention, before the first shots have been fired. |
