[NYPOST] Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has formally accepted a controversial $400 million Boeing 747-8 jumbo jet from Qatar

Once the upgrades are completed, Trump, 78, plans to use the extravagant plane as his official presidential jet until Boeing delivers the first of two presidential aircraft currently under construction.

''The Secretary of Defense has accepted a Boeing 747 from Qatar in accordance with all federal rules and regulations,'' chief Pentagon front man Sean Parnell told The Post in a statement.

#1 Qatar paying jizya to the US like a good little dhimmi would be a welcome development if the payment wasn't a highly complex machine that will be in physical proximity to the POTUS for extended periods of time.

The plane could literally be bugged with millions(*) of active and passive 21st century "Things"

One redeeming effect is that this plane, as a gift could be thoroughly examined by the NSA for years without ever actually serving as AF1, giving the US insights about the adversaries' top tier spying technology.

Also, this kerfuffle will force the US Democrats to break with Qatar, making an anti-Qatari political consensus possible.

#2 Simple things for simple minds ... a critical mechanical component fatigues, fails in flight, down she goes.

The president, his entourage, the press corp and city dwellers below become adverse news.

#3 Considering all of the parts sourced from 'overseas' (*cough* China *cough) by subcontractors how can we be certain an 'American built' new plane is secure? Or even structurally sound with parts up to specifications?
