Three children of Nina Tseretilova return to Dagestan
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[KavkazUzel] The court in Kaliningrad upheld the refusal to limit Nina Tseretilova’s parental rights, but after this decision she herself offered to return the children to her husband’s relatives in Dagestan, the children’s grandfather said. Their father said that he remains abroad for now.

As the Caucasian Knot reported, in March 2021, the court satisfied the request of a resident of Dagestan for custody of the children, and on July 16 limited the parental rights of the father of the children, from whom the mother was divorced. In October of the same year, the children were handed over to their mother.

After refusing to live with their mother, the children were placed in a rehabilitation center, and their father's relatives demanded custody of them. In June 2023, relatives stated that the court in Kaliningrad was taking an unreasonably long time to consider the claim to limit Nina’s parental rights, which prevented the children from leaving for the republic to join their father’s family. The children lived in an orphanage during the process.

In December 2023, the Central District Court of Kaliningrad refused to satisfy the claim of the prosecutor's office to limit Nina Tseretilova's parental rights. According to relatives, Tseretilova rejected an agreement that would have allowed her to retain parental rights and for her children to live with their grandparents in Dagestan.

The story of 33-year-old Nina Tseretilova became public in November 2020, when the documentary film “Those Who Removed the Hijab” (the second title of the film is “Believe. Pray. Endure. Muslim Women”), dedicated to Muslim women from Dagestan, was released. In it, the woman said that the judge decided to leave the children with their father, considering her behavior and appearance, in particular, piercings and tattoos, “immoral.” During her marriage, Nina was subjected to beatings.

On April 11, the Kaliningrad Regional Court upheld the decision of the trial court, refusing to limit Nina ’s  parental rights. “After this, her daughter gave an ultimatum that if they didn’t listen to her, then she would run away from the orphanage and ruin everyone’s life in every possible way. A week passed after the trial, and Nina herself proposed a truce and said that she would let the children go to Dagestan. Nina gave it to the children all their things,” said a family friend.

According to her, in  Dagestan the children were warmly and joyfully received by all relatives,  and Nina moved from Kaliningrad to another city. She continues to be their sole legal representative.

The children's grandfather Akhmed Tseretilov confirmed that all three children are now with them in Buinaksk. “Everyone returned last Wednesday. Only Allah knows what happened, but Nina offered peace - to take the children to Dagestan. But I don’t mind, we bought tickets and went. Apart from the consent of the mother to take the children to Dagestan, no other documents were drawn up, there is only a verbal agreement,” said Akhmed Tseretilov.

According to him, the two youngest were sent to school. “I offered them to stay until the end of the school year in Kaliningrad, but they didn’t want to. And the eldest took an academic leave from his college and in the fall will continue his studies at a specialized educational institution in Dagestan,” explained Akhmed Tseretilov.

The children's father, Magomed Tseretilov, is still in Turkey. He expressed satisfaction that “the four-year war is over” and the children will be able to live peacefully wherever they want. “At the moment, I am still wanted, but this is no longer a problem. Soon my issues will be resolved, and I will return,” he said, without specifying how to resolve the issue.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was unable to obtain a comment from Nina Tseretilova.

Let us remind you that Magomed Tseretilov was put on the federal wanted list under Article 167 of the Criminal Code of Russia (Deliberate destruction or damage to someone else’s property), because he broke Nina’s mobile phone. In addition, Tseretilov is on the local wanted list in connection with charges of malicious evasion of alimony payments.
