Ilhan Omar says she is in Congress to help Somalia

[Twitchy] The link shows parts of a speech by Representative Omar. The speech is in Somali (there are English subtitles). She called for genocide of non Somalis (e.g. Ethiopian, Kenyan) groups in Somalia. Calls for war against Somaliland. Lots of other vile and crazy stuff.

As is their habit, Twitchy has a nice collection of tweets on the subject with framing commentary, well worth perusing. Interestingly, there is nothing about this in our usual Somali news sources. Perhaps they are too appalled to write about it. Or perhaps they are just slower off the mark — Red State provides additional discussion and the response of a Somaliland ambassadress:

Having open and freely stated as such, she has violated her OATH OF OFFICE.

18 U.S.C. 1918:
“Whoever violates the provisions of section 7311 of title 5 that an individual may not accept or hold a position in the Government of the United States or the government of the District of Columbia if he (1) advocates the overthrow of our constitutional form of government [and] shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year and a day or both.”
