Pres. Trump To Sit For Interview With Tucker Carlson, Skip First GOP Debate
[WIRE] Former President Donald Trump will skip next week’s GOP 2024 presidential primary debate and instead sit down for an interview with Tucker Carlson, The New York Times reported Friday.

Multiple sources close to Trump have said that the GOP presidential primary leader will not attend the debate in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, according to the NYT. He has long intimated his plans to avoid the first debate on the campaign trail. Trump, who is leading his Republican opponents by double digits in both national and early primary state polls, shared a lengthy statement on social media Thursday that concluded with "People know my Record, one of the BEST EVER, so why would I Debate?"

It was reported earlier this month that Fox News executives had dinner with Trump in an apparent attempt to convince him to join the debate. Per Republican National Committee 2024 debate rules, the former president would have had to sign a pledge to support whoever wins the GOP presidential nomination. Trump explained last week he wouldn’t want to sign it because there are "three or four people that I wouldn’t support for president." The former president added, "So right there, there’s a problem, okay?"

Trump received heavy criticism for not attending The Family Leadership Summit in Iowa and "fireside chat" with Carlson in July. All other major campaign opponents — including second-place challenger Ron DeSantis — joined Carlson in Iowa for an interview.

Carlson, the NYT noted, has refused to stop his show from airing on Twitter despite legal notices from his former employer.

This week, Carlson has released interviews with Democratic primary candidate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., and GOP candidate Vivek Ramaswamy.

#1 Distancing himself from the media and loser wanna-bees is a good move. Carlson marches on. Faux News takes another well deserved sucking chest wound.

#2 The GOPe didn't support him in 2016 or much in 2020, so why should he share the stage? Who legitimizes who?

#3 Agree with all above comments. The midgets will be divided among those pushing pabulum (Haley, Ramaswamy) and those attacking Trump (all the rest).

Even the dimmest normie Pub voter should grasp neither of those messages matter to them.

#4 Christie will spend all his time attacking Trump. Just remember: he recommended Christopher Wray for FBI head

#5 Why go to an 'event' where all the other speakers and the 'moderators' will take potshots at him? Waste of time.

#6 Christie isn't even running a campaign - by his own words it's a vendetta. Trump awarded 2 points for solid move.

#7 I'll never forget the GOP forcing Trump to sign a loyalty pledge in 2016. The absolute GALL of the GOP.

#8 ^ Yeah. Imagine Paul Ryan or Adam Kinzinger signing a pledge to actually represent their constituents.

#9 I bet many will look at who gets more views; Tucker's interview or Fox News.
Rumble will have the debate so you don't have to watch on Fox for those who want to watch both.
Just sayin'

#10 I think it will be interesting, in that Tucker is actually going to Challenge Trump on his screw-ups and blame-shifting. Yeah, he did alot right. Best Foreign policy President of my Lifetime, no question. Might be the best since the Bull Moose himself.

But there's other problems. Supporting Ronna, attacking Desantis(Just comes across as petty), using campaign funds for his defense, Trans idealogy (It was his decision that let it into the Miss America pagents, for example), the lockdowns, Fauci (He gave the little troll his power and didn't take it away after 14days to stop the spread), gave Governors power to lockdown, Spending bills he signed, the crime bill he signed and pushed for, not pardoning J6ers before he left office, and allowing the Special Counsel Circus.

Oh, and the Swamp is still there, more entrenched than ever. And yes, I'm a Desantis guy, I like Trump, if he wins Primary I will vote for him.

I also think this might be a mistake on his part. He's going to have to debate eventually, thin the crowd if you have to after the first states, but he's going to debate.
