Elon Musk cuts Twitter's parental leave from 20 weeks to 2, internal docs show
[NYPOST] Twitter boss Elon Musk has slashed the company’s paid parental leave policy from 20 weeks to just 14 days, according to Internal company documents.
If the company can afford for you to be away from your desk for five months are you really that essential?
It depends — is that desk in an office, or can you work from home?

news hound Kate Conger, who cited the internal memo.

In Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party,, state law allows employees to take up to 12 weeks of "unpaid, job-protected" leave.

That gives new moms working at Twitter’s headquarters little time to recover unless they want to risk their job and take unpaid leave.

Reaction online was scathing.

"Two weeks! What do they expect 2 weeks and the child will be going to the bathroom on his own.?!..as an ex tweep and as a parent I cannot relate to this," one Twitter user wrote.
Ex tweep.
"As a former Twitter employee that oversaw US LOA (leave of absence) and rolled out the 20 week policy in 2016, this is DEPRESSING," tweeted Tina Forrest.

"I am so sorry to hear of the amazing policies/programs that are being dismantled."

Another Twitter user blasted Musk as "misogynistic and anti-worker."

#2 My lovely wife delivered three children and I missed a grand total of two days of work.

Well, yes, she was a stay-at-home mom at the time...

On the other hand, what did our SecDOT take?

#3 "whatever is required by law in the region where the employees work, along with a ’top up’ of two weeks of leave,"

The article does not define "top up" but that reads like whatever is required by law PLUS two weeks. A quick goog suggests that in Michigan and Cali that would be 12 weeks required + 2 = 14 weeks which is approximately 3.5 months.

Some experts would rate this article as Whiny and Misleading. Maybe the NY Post is trying to sell something.

#8 ex. tweep.

I remember when the people who posited that social media would train their ego to be shallow and deficient were called the weirdos.

Then they'd snuff, go back to My Space, and look for a follow up of 2 girls and a cup.

2 weeks gets you through a Cesarean. 20 weeks is if you are sissys who just bought twins and nobody really expects anything from you at work.

#9 "whatever is required by law in the region where the employees work"

That's the problem right there, "required by law". Gum'ment needs to stay out of this (and countless other things). This is better left to the private sector and between management and the individual. And in some cases, teleworking can be employed.
