As noted by journalist Andy Ngo, Johnson had called for "removing law enforcement from society. During the 2020 riots, he defended looters, saying they were lashing out against racism."
"Chicago’s violent mostly peaceful crime has surged over the last few years under Lori Lightfoot," he added.
Indeed it had. Violent crime had risen steadily throughout Lightfoot’s tenure. Gun violence went kaboom! in 2021, with some neighborhoods seeing over a 100% increase in fatal shootings.
The crime wave had played a major role in Lightfoot becoming the first Chicago mayor in four decades to lose a re-election bid.
But it looks like Chicago will be electing a candidate who is even more radical than Lightfoot to replace her.
Brandon Johnson has lied about his positions on the failed Democratic Party police known as "defund the police."
Johnson had claimed, "I never said, defund the police." But he avoided explaining his 2020 comment when he was shown on video during a debate saying that defunding police is not "a slogan, it’s an actual real political goal."
The incoming mayor also believes in structural racism and seeks "equity" through $800 million more in local taxes to benefit black and Latino communities and reduce crime.
No wonder Johnson was even endorsed by democratic socialist Senator Bernie Sanders

Sanders was Representative-for-Life from Vermont until moving to the Senate for the rest of his life in 2006, assuming the seat vacated by Jim Jeffords. He ran for the 2016 nomination for president, to be cheated out of it by Hillary Clinton, then went back to being an Independent socialist, waiting for 2020 to roll around...
. But it doesn’t stop there. The radical communist "Squad" loves him, as well.
