Somali government claims gains in the war against Al-Shabaab

after regaining control of large swathes of territory within 5 months.
The Minister of Information Daud Aweys Jama said the government will liberate whole country in this year and the deliver public services to the recovered areas and towns.
Speaking along with with the AU envoy Mohammed El-Amine Souef, Aweys has added that the government of Somalia will leave no stone unturned to restore peace and order.
The minister said that many victories have been achieved in the war against al-Shabaab by capturing many areas. Aweys also said that the government forces are still continuing military operations against al-Shabaab.
The Minister said that the number of bully boyz who have surrendered in recent days is increasing, taking advantage of the government’s amnesty to ditch the murderous Moslem group.
Over the past five months, Somali government forces have consolidated gains against al-Shabaab in a large-scale offensive in central regions. The offensive was initiated by clans rising up against the group, which the government in turn sought to nurture and expand.
It’s being described as the most significant offensive against the al-Shabaab group in more than a decade after SNA seized control of dozens of villages and towns.
