Free Sandbags in California to mitigate upcoming flooding
[FresnoCounty] ....the following road yards will remain open 24 hours a day. Empty bags are provided free of charge to County residents, homes located in unincorporated areas.

You must bring your own shovel in order to shovel sand into bags yourself.

For more information, please call the County of Fresno, Public Works & Planning Department, Road Maintenance Division at (559) 600-4240, Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00 pm

If you have an emergency, please call the Fresno County Sheriff's Department at (559) 488-3111.
----------------
other counties in California have similar free sand bag programs; another strong atmospheric river event is expected to begin early am 9 January. This is after several similar storms; ground is already saturated. Also, snow levels will rise and be near 7000'for a few hours thus melting snow will add to the valley rain runoff. Above pass levels, especially above 7000', avalanche danger is about as bad as it ever gets as the snow-pack is about double the long term average in the Sierra.

#7 List of all the major dams in California, and their levels as of yesterday. The New Melones dam was built in 1980, the last dam built, and since then California's population has gone from 23.67 million to 39.44 million.
