FDA estimates that nearly 30 million adults could potentially benefit from hearing aids, but only about 1/5 of people with hearing problems use them

#1 I've never ever needed a "prescription" to get a hearing aid. The most recent ones I bought cost approximately $52 each and work just fine. Yes, they don't have fancy programmable equalizers or Bluetooth, but they let me hear the frigging refrigerator running from a room away before I turned them down to a sensible level. The only thing I wish they had was an announcement that the battery is about to die like the old overpriced one I had. But that's not that big a deal.
