TikTok-inspired 'Orbeez Challenge' ends in MURDER after New Yorker, 18, is shot and killed 'by off-duty jail warden' when teen fired illegal air rifle at him from passing car
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • Raymond Chaluisant, 18, was allegedly shot and killed by off-duty Corrections Officer Dion Middleton, 45, on Thursday in the Bronx

  • Middleton was charged with murder of the teen, who allegedly fired at the cop with an air rifle for an 'Orbeez Challenge'

  • Afterwards, Middleton continued to work without reporting the incident, it is claimed

  • The challenge asks TikTokers and YouTubers to equip their air rifles or water guns with gel pellets and fire them at unsuspecting victims as a prank

  • The NYPD has warned against using these toys and has confiscated several of them after the fatal shooting

  • Middleton was arrested at the NYPD academy's firing range in Rodman's Neck, where he clocked into work hours after the shooting

#1 Newsom signs gun control bill modeled after Texas abortion law
Posted by Skidmark 2022-07-23 06:26||   2022-07-23 06:26|| Front Page Top

#2 About Gov. Newsom’s law:

California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom on Friday signed a gun control bill into law that will allow private citizens to sue anyone who manufactures, sells, transports or distributes illegal "assault weapons and ghost guns."

The measure was crafted in response to last year's Texas abortion ban that prohibits the procedure once a heartbeat was detected and allows private citizens to sue physicians, drivers or anyone else who aids a woman in receiving an abortion for $10,000.

The California gun law would grant $10,000 in damages per weapon to private citizens who sue. Citizens could also be awarded the same amount if they file a lawsuit against someone who illegally sells firearms to people under 21 years of age.

The problem on modelling the one after the other being, in my inexpert opinion, that gun ownership is protected by the U.S. Constitution, while abortion is not, as the US Supreme Court so recently ruled. Sadly, despite his varied life experiences and full head of hair, the honourable governor is a narrowly conventional California Progressive in his politics, as far as I’ve noticed.

#3 It speaks volumes that California can't come up with a coherent response to the Texas bill. All they can do is say, "FUCK YOU WE'RE DOING THE SAME BUT TO YOU!" in reply.

They're intellectually bankrupt. You'll notice this pattern again and again, when this kind of "reply" is made to a really good point. Once you learn how to spot it, you can't stop noticing it.

#4 TW, aren't both these laws a little stupid? Not to mention tyrannical? $10k incentive to busybodies of all sorts; from the local gun-hating Karen to Father Bobs of the Holy Bucolic, to effectively act as agents of a nanny state? Don't they both divide in a way?

If someone wants to get an abortion, they're making an immoral choice alright. But what future does a child have if its mother is the sort of person who wants it dead? A future in the foster care system? I have heard horror stories of that which would shame the darn ISIS. Who, or what cares for the child once it's 'saved'?

My point is, both right and left are not fighting over real issues anymore. The left is happy to keep the right engaged in these persnickety things. While it slowly transforms the very foundation of government, society and the definitions of what people think are right and wrong. The right seems pleased with winning really small battles while the war is being lost.

I don't know, maybe it just seems that way to me.

Because where I live, it's not abortions or curbs on moral turpitude of liberals, it's just temples. The 'sentiments' of gods and goddesses and the honor of long dead kings etc. And the masses seem mighty pleased with local governments giving them 'victories' which are actually gossamer and made of hot air. The moslem and the commie and the globalist agent continue to advance.

#5 If the so-called right didn't have the left to pretend they were opposing, they'd actually have to, you know, accomplish stuff.

All you need to know about the emptiness of the co-opted, so-called right, you can learn at The Z Blog. I don't always agree with him, but he's correct more often than not.

#6 When shooting anything at a cop is considered a game, well... Must be a cultural thing.

#7 #4 Dron66046, I would say that killing a baby is more than an "immoral choice." It is a crime, just as killing a person outside the womb is.

As for the alternative, I understand that there are quite a few infertile couples looking to adopt children. Again, I understand the best environment for a child to be raised in is a stable home with married parents. And so adoption is the preferred choice.

Finally, this might make young women think twice about giving it away to anything with pants on. If people were a bit more circumspect about sex before they are in the throes of passion, we might have fewer surprise pregnancies. In fact, I suspect we will see a drop in pregnancies staring almost immediately in states that now restrict abortion.

#8 The last paragraph is wishful thinking, Tom. All modern social media drives the concept of instant gratification in ways that people in the 50s-60s=70s couldn't even imagine.

#9 It is a crime, just as killing a person

Okay. Agreed. But are there really as many 'stable' couples, with the moral grounding and the wherewithal to raise all those 'saved' babies? I agree I'm thinking only strategically now. And we're not encouraging abortions or slimy abortionists. You know what class of people go for this sort of life. Folks will take on the responsibility to care for all their children? Who are these wonderful folks?

That being said, I brought a girl from the 'Stain for $4k, brought her to India, set her up good, inserted her in a program for hindu dissidents trying to relocate. I looked in on her time to time. Mrs. 66046 was all for adopting her formally but we couldn't. She's a mommy of three and a fine christian lady now. Point is, I always dreaded she would fuck up one day and her inherent programming would make her return to her 'roots'. But didn't happen, praise Gawd. Maybe I'm wrong, surely I am. Yes, you're probably right. Life must always be given a chance.

It can always be ended when it's gone bad.

#10 Dron, look up Ryan Bomberger of the Radiance Foundation (radiancefoundation.org). He was conceived in rape. His birth mother gave him up for adoption. He was adopted by the Bombergers, who had, I believe, four of their own, who adopted 10 others besides Ryan.
There are other couples out there who will do it.

The funny thing about adoption is that the social services make you jump through hoops, PROVE you are financially and emotionally stable, and all kinds of other things, just to adopt.

But a "homeless" can give birth in an alley, no questions asked...

#12 We are not all in agreement on the subject, which is why kicking it back to the states is the right call — letting the various cultures across the country work out the consequences of their various beliefs on this subject in their own way. And why I am grateful that in Ohio the new abortion laws provide exceptions for physical danger to the mother if she were forced to carry to term — like that ten year old who was unnecessarily taken across state lines to deal with her mother having shared her with the illegal alien who is still her live-in boyfriend. There are few things for which a single answer is correct in all cases, and there has to be room in both law and morality for that.

#14 But had I been asked, Dron, I would have said it is never wise to reward Mrs. Grundy for what she would do eagerly for free.

#15 Ha ha. Mrs Grundy.

The Black Hood kill kill kills Mrs Grundy in the redone series Riverdale. 🤪

Not many people know the Black Hood was a limited run character in a superhero series by Archie comics. Later, Impact comics took it up and made it my favourite hooded vigilante ever. Just... useless trivia.

#16 I certainly did not know. My Mrs. Grundy dates back to the 19th century, I believe. She is mentioned as a concern in some of the Heinlein tales, which are rooted in the mores of the Edwardian period.
