Secret Service admits that agency DID delete texts from January 5 and 6 as part of a 'pre-planned, three-month system migration' - but pushes back on Inspector General's claims that it was 'maliciously' erasing evidence

The DHS watchdog sent a letter to the Homeland Security committees in the House and the Senate on Wednesday

'Many' text messages between the US Secret Service were deleted after the watchdog made a request for electronic communications, the letter states

The Homeland Security Inspector General requested them as part of his office's investigation into the January 6 attack on the US Capitol

DHS employees refused to hand over documents until they were reviewed by the department's lawyers, the inspector general's office said

House Homeland Security Chair Rep. Bennie Thompson confirmed to DailyMail.com that his committee would be briefed on the matter

The Secret Service denied having 'maliciously deleted text messages' in a statement sent to DailyMail.com
“We had only the purest love in our hearts as we did it,” they added piously.

#1 This article implies that the Secret Service is hiding Trump incriminating texts. But there is a better chance that texts from those pushing Trump out were also included in these deleted texts.

#2 Federal statutes require retention of records. Someone decided not to follow the law. Not that anyone has been prosecuted for those actions before.
