U.S. military plane crashes with four on board in Norway, Norwegian government says

[CBS] The Norwegian military said Friday that a U.S. military aircraft with four people on board crashed in the northern part of the country. The V-22 Osprey aircraft went down in bad weather in an area with rough terrain and narrow valleys, according to the Norwegian military.

The Marines confirmed "an incident has occurred involving a Marine Corps MV-22B Osprey aircraft," and that an investigation is underway.

The fate of the people on board is not known.

#1 The V-22 Ospreys have been involved in a number of deadly crashes in recent years. In 2017, three U.S. Marines were killed when a MV-22 Osprey tilt-rotor aircraft crashed off the coast of Australia.

Should actually read.... 'plagued by deadly crashes since initial fielding.'

Ride on one of those SOB's? Only if unconscious or bound hand and foot, kicking and screaming. Seen'um at ME airbases years ago. Seldom used (except on clear days close to the FOB), for fear of crashes and bad PR.

Excuse was, "aircraft is unarmed...needs a defensive cannon system." Yea, THAT's the ticket, another weighty, vibrating complex on-board system.

System manager - 'Successful combat theater deployment ?'... CHECK !

#6 I believe the White Houses uses a few for baggage hauling from Andrews, AFB. They may be assighed to the AV Det at Quantico. Don't believe any have landed on the White House lawn or hauled administration people. Can't imagine why.
