Why Putin's '£15BILLION-a-day' invasion ISN'T going to plan: Moscow tells army advance 'from all directions' as Ukraine OBLITERATES convoy and Estonian ex-defence chief says Russia will run out of cash and arms if Kyiv holds out for 10 days
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • Vladimir Putin’s invasion with Ukraine is not going to plan due to Kremlin ‘overconfidence’ about war aims

  • Ukrainian intelligence has claimed that Russia is running out of money, weapons and resources fast

  • If Kyiv can hold off the Russian advance on Kyiv for 10 days, the Kremlin may have to enter negotiations

  • Dramatic video shows a destroyed Russian convoy with Z-markings near Kherson in southern Ukraine

  • Two Russian military transport planes ‘carrying paratroopers’, a fighter jet and helicopter were downed

Ukraine 'obliterates Chechen special forces column with 56 tanks outside Kyiv and kills top general' as battle for capital enters third day: Russian airstrike hits radioactive waste disposal site and UN says 240 civilians are dead
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • The group - likely to number in the hundreds - was blown to smithereens on their second day in the country

  • Those killed include Chechen general Magomed Tushaev - one of the regime's most highly-decorated soldiers

  • Vladimir Putin had green-lighted their deployment, with each fighter given a deck of cards to help them recognize Ukrainian leaders they were encouraged to capture and kill

  • But Ukrainian president Volodymr Zelensky remains alive - and is fast becoming a global hero - while Putin has faced scorn over his huge army's slow progress to capture the country

  • On Sunday morning, Ukranian government ministers confirmed they'd managed to keep control of the capital city of Kyiv for the third night running

  • Russia has struck the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine in Kyiv, which stores nuclear waste

  • The facility's radiation detector was also destroyed - although a preliminary inspection suggests there is no immediate danger to locals

  • First confirmed death toll has also emerged - UN says at least 240 Ukrainian citizens have been killed

  • Woman was killed in Kharkiv, in eastern Ukraine on Saturday, after Russian artillery shell struck nine-story residential apartment building

  • Two blasts went off in the south west of the Ukrainian capital shortly after midnight local time

  • A fuel depot in the city of Vasylkiv was targeted by Russian ballistic missiles, its mayor said

  • Russia also blew up a gas pipeline in Kharkiv, eastern Ukraine, which sits close to the Russian border

  • Vladimir Putin is said to be furious at his troops' apparent lack of progress, and is reportedly fuming in his heavily-guarded Russian mountain lair

  • An eerie orange glow filled the sky, CNN reports that a fuel depot may have been hit

  • Blast took place close to one of Kyiv's two airports - Boryspil International Airport, whose capture is vital to Russian takeover ambitions

We don't NEED diplomatic relations with the West': Ex-Russian president Medvedev shrugs off crippling sanctions as he suggests 'padlocking the embassies' and engaging only through 'binoculars and gun sights'

Ukrainian missile strike destroyed Russian Sukhoi Su-30SM at Millerovo (Russia) airbase
[Fighter Jets World] Ukrainian missile strike destroyed Russian Air Force Sukhoi Su-30SM fighter jet on the parking area of Millerovo airbase.

Ukraine reportedly attacked a Russian airbase on 25 February, marking the first time that Kyiv conducted an offensive military action outside of its national borders since Russia launched its renewed invasion of the country on 24 February.

According to reports, the base was hit by an undisclosed number of surface-launched OTR-21 Tochka (SS-21 ’Scarab’/9M79) ballistic missiles, with imagery showing facilities and at least one Sukhoi Su-30SM ’Flanker-H’ combat aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) 31st Guards Fighter Aviation Regiment on fire.

Germany and Netherlands sending thousands of weapons to Ukraine
[Fighter Jets World] Germany will send 1,000 anti-tank weapons and 500 Stinger missiles to Ukraine, marking a complete reversal in Berlin’s restrictive arms export policy, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced Saturday.

The weapons, which will come from the Bundeswehr’s own stocks, "will be delivered as quickly as possible to Ukraine," according to a government statement.

Germany has for months come under intense criticism for its response to Russia’s aggression toward Ukraine. The government said its "historical responsibilities" prevented it from shipping arms to conflict zones, and had previously blocked other NATO allies from transferring German-origin weapons to Ukraine

The Netherlands also announced it will send anti-tank weapons to Ukraine, the Defence Ministry said on Saturday.

The Dutch government will supply 50 Panzerfaust-3 anti-tank weapons and 400 rockets, the ministry said in a letter to parliament. The Netherlands is also jointly considering with Germany sending a Patriot air defence system to a NATO battle group in Slovakia, it said.

US, UK, France, Belgium, Netherlands, the Czech Republic all pledge weapons to Kyiv’s forces as they show strong resistance to Russian invasion

Russian Offensive Campaign Assessment, February 26
[INSTITUTE FOR THE STUDY OF WAR via InstaPundit] Russian forces’ main axes of advance in the last 24 hours focused on Kyiv, northeastern Ukraine, and southern Ukraine. Russian airborne and special forces troops are engaged in urban warfare in northwestern Kyiv, but Russian mechanized forces are not yet in the capital. Russian forces from Crimea have changed their primary axes of advance from a presumed drive toward Odesa to focus on pushing north toward Zaporizhie and the southeastern bend of the Dnipro River and east along the Azov Sea coast toward Mariupol. These advances risk cutting off the large concentrations of Ukrainian forces still defending the former line of contact between unoccupied Ukraine and occupied Donbas. Ukrainian leaders may soon face the painful decision of ordering the withdrawal of those forces and the ceding of more of eastern Ukraine or allowing much of Ukraine’s uncommitted conventional combat power to be encircled and destroyed. There are no indications as yet of whether the Ukrainian government is considering this decision point.

Ukrainian resistance remains remarkably effective and Russian operations especially on the Kyiv axis have been poorly coordinated and executed, leading to significant Russian failures on that axis and at Kharkiv. Russian forces remain much larger and more capable than Ukraine’s conventional military, however, and Russian advances in southern Ukraine may threaten to unhinge the defense of Kyiv and northeastern Ukraine if they continue unchecked.

#9 Time; the slow grind will continue, Russia has been here before. Bright moments are temporary. Putin's resolve is beyond question. His lifetime of service to his country and leadership has been tested many times. He will stay the course. Those successful in military events will be promoted with increased effectiveness. The numbers game loss of this and that means nothing. The slow grind of force will grind down the opposition.

Yeah. Ima guessing the plan was to
1)blitzkrieg Kiev
2) offer nice surrender terms
3) go back home better off than when they started.

Right now, they seem to be stuck on #1.

#19 So the bear tried to modernize and become more efficient but we see that he is still a clumsy old bear. That doesn't mean he isn't dangerous and, as he gets more and more frustrated, will likely become even more dangerous. That will likely be most unfortunate for innocent civilians. Maybe he should pause for minute and reconsider.

#20 Maybe the US president should act like one and lean on Zelensky, get him to agree to partition and no NATO membership for UA

In another time the US president would force other small nations to follow America's lead or submit to America's commands in matters of war and peace

Now the world sees a small nation led by a brave little man and brigades of grannies showing how impotent and cowardly and completely useless American leadership is

RIP American hegemony

Didn't notice the French pulled out of military NATO and had the American forces move to other countries. The Americans didn't invade France to keep them at heel.

Oh, and during the '73 in the ME, nearly all NATO countries refused American overflights of resupply to Israel.

Yeah, no difference.
