'It's coming': New York Gov. Kathy Hochul declares state of emergency in response to new Covid variant Omicron: Halts elective surgeries in hospitals with limited capacity as Biden bans travel from eight African countries

NY Gov Kathy Hochul on Friday declared a 'disaster state' due to COVID levels being at a rate not seen in the state since April 2020

She stressed that the new variant Omicron has not yet been found in the US, but experts believe it is only a matter of time

Hochul announced that hospitals have the option of canceling elective surgeries, if they become dangerously overwhelmed, to free up staff and facilities

Her move was in response to the new COVID variant Omicron, which begun in Botswana and is spreading rapidly in South Africa

It has now been found in Hong Kong, Israel and Belgium, with about 100 confirmed cases worldwide

Experts do not yet know if Omicron is more transmissible or more dangerous, but they fear it could be more resistant to vaccines or immunity

NYC, a city of about 9 Million has had 5,785 Covid-19 cases in last week and 26 claimed deaths.

Current odds of infection are about 0.0642 of 1%.

Current Odds of Dying IF infected are about 0.4494 of 1%

So Declare A Panic and Lockdown.

#28 first two weeks of Nov, South Africa averaged about 300 new infections a day.

Today, Nov 27 there were over 3000 new infections.

Fatality response is typically a week or two or three after infection so we won't have that for a while.

Thank you Mr.B, I've been a railman for years, and as you know the caboose was where railmen were given R&R on the long freight journey on the rails.

Unfortunately, the cabooses were retired some years ago, by about 2002.
However, the caboose still lives in our dreams.
