'Tear it down': Steve Hilton says if parents want their power back, teachers unions have to go
[BIZPACREVIEW] Fox News host Steve Hilton blasted teachers’ unions on "The Next Revolution," saying parents have been stripped of their power when it comes to determining what is best for their children.

This being the very thing Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis endeavored to avoid in signing an executive order banning school mask mandates — some districts are trying to skirt the order by requiring masks, but allowing parents to navigate the red tape to opt-out.

"This week, as parents across the country protest cruel, scientifically illiterate mask mandates for kids, [President] Biden’s hapless education secretary Miguel Cardona threatens school closures in response, and Biden himself weighed in against kids, against parents, and against science," Hilton declared.

Pointing to Rhode Island, the Fox News host said a teachers’ union is suing a parent "for the crime of trying to find out exactly what kind of woke poison the schools are spewing into the mind of our children."

"All while the unions once again hold America’s children hostage with threats to close schools unless their preposterous pandemic demands are met," he continued. "What does all this show? That people who should have the power when it comes to education, parents, have had it taken away by an unholy alliance of the teachers’ unions and the education bureaucracy."

Hilton was adamant that the unions looked to exploit the pandemic for personal gain, which comes as no surprise given that they are little more than the fundraising arm of the Democratic Party, which now controls Congress and the White House courtesy of Beijing, China’s gift to the world we know as COVID-19.

"From the start of this pandemic, the teachers’ unions knew the virus barely affected children," he insisted, "Yet they exploited it for their own political and personal benefit, closing schools in America while countries around the world opened theirs up, in some cases barely closing at all."

Hilton said the unions pushed for political demands like wealth taxes, charter school bans, Medicare-for-all, and the two biggest teachers’ unions "proudly defending racism and woke indoctrination," a reference to the hate-filled, divisive
...politicians call things divisive when when the other side sez something they don't like. Their own statements are never divisive, they're principled...
Critical Race Theory

...teaches that skin color is the most important characteristic of any person, which translates to separate but equal with a different bunch in charge. All whites and Asians are born racist and racism permeates every aspect of society, which should be dismantled and the remains turned over to the kind of dipshit who pushes this nonsense...
"The teachers’ unions are the biggest opportunity crushers in America, sacrificing educational standards and student achievement for political dogma that dumbs everything down," he charged. "All while demanding more money, less work, lavish pensions. In Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party,, getting $5000 bonuses, 7% salary bumps in retroactive pay raises just for showing up."

Declaring that teachers’ unions are "obviously America’s public enemy number one," Hilton asked how are they able to win like this, before answering his own question by pointing to the tens of millions of dollars that regularly flows to Democrats.

"For years, the unions have bribed and bribed and bribed again," Hilton said.

"And what has America got in exchange?" he asked. "As even a liberal columnist in New York Times

...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...

points out, Greeks have higher high school graduation rates, 15-year-olds in Russia, Poland, Latvia and many other countries are better at math than their American counterparts. One-fifth of American 15-year-olds can’t read at the level expected of a 10-year-old."

Hilton essentially called for doing away with unions and a remake of the public school system, concluding, "The performance of the union-run public school system has been a complete catastrophe."

Right. Over the dead carcass of the Democratic Party.

"It’s the system that’s broken," he added later. "There’s no point in reforming it. You don’t reform a rotten building, you tear it down."
