Cops discovered her body lying next to a car - with her head lying next to it

Alexis Saborit, 42, was arrested on a second-degree murder charge

Thayer's coworkers said she had been in a long-term relationship with Saborit

They alleged domestic violence had been a 'consistent problem' with the couple
