Family attorney gives hint on identity of the Capitol Police officer who allegedly shot Ashli Babbitt
|
 [BIZPACREVIEW] Aaron Babbitt, husband of deceased Air Force veteran Ashli Babbitt, who was shot and killed inside the U.S. Capitol by a police officer, and his attorney, Terrell Roberts, appeared on Fox News’ "Tucker Carlson Tonight" to discuss their ongoing battle to learn the identity of the cop who shot her and why he felt compelled to use deadly force.
During the segment, Roberts appeared to drop a serious clue as to who the Capitol Police officer may be.
Ashli Babbitt, 35, was killed when she allegedly tried to climb through a broken window next to a door outside the Speaker’s Lobby, which leads to the House chamber. The tragic incident was captured on video. A Trump supporter, Babbitt was unarmed and there was no warning heard before the shot suddenly rang out.

Her death remains the only death on Jan. 6 directly related to the storming of the U.S. Capitol — three protesters reportedly died of health-related causes, and Capitol Police officer Brian Sicknick died the following day of a stroke.
Aaron Babbitt told host Tucker Carlson he never expected to lose his wife to "political violence," and shared his thoughts on how his wife has been characterized online and in the media.
"It sickens me to hear what people say about Ashli," he explained. "There has never been a person that Ashli ran across in her daily life that didn’t love her and wouldn’t remember her in some way, shape or form for the rest of their life. But this is a game, this is the social media craziness that people just run with a theory and just take off with it."
As for the lack of media interest in her death, he said "the silence is deafening."
Carlson noted that the media has portrayed protesters who overreacted in the belief that the presidential election was stolen as insurrectionists more dangerous than ISIS, as white supremacists attempting to overthrow the U.S. government. That Jan. 6 was worse than 9/11, worse than Pearl Harbor.
Turning to Babbitt’s attorney, Carlson asked him about online claims that the officer who shot Babbitt was the same officer who left his loaded gun in a Capitol restroom.
"There have been reports online, they seem credible, I don’t know if they’re true, but the Capitol Hill police officer who shot Ashli Babbitt — I’m not going to mention his name — was the same officer who left his loaded handgun in a public men’s room on the Capitol. Do you believe that is the same officer?" the Fox News host asked.
"That’s my belief," Roberts replied, repeating the remark for emphasis.
On February 25, 2019, Capitol Police Lt. Mike Byrd left a Glock 22 in a bathroom in the Capitol Visitor Center complex. No credible reports suggesting he was the officer who shot Babbitt have surfaced.
"Here is an amazing thing, we still don’t know who shot her," Carlson said. "And we don’t know why. No one has ever explained and no one has been forced to explain."
In April, after having "conducted a thorough investigation," the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia and the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division said in a statement that they "will not pursue criminal charges against the U.S. Capitol Police officer involved in the fatal shooting of 35-year-old Ashli Babbitt."
