Time To Read 1984 Again?
Was dusting off and sorting out my book shelves and found my old paperback copy of 1984. So I started thumbing thru it and saying to myself yep that happened, that is happening, and etc...

eg. Ministry of Truth
The Ministry of Truth controls information: news, entertainment, education, and the arts. Winston Smith works in the Records Department, "rectifying" historical records to accord with Big Brother's current pronouncements so that everything the Party says appears to be true.

So while we "Hear" a lot of about how the USA is mimicking 1984, when was the last time you analyzed and compared it yourself?

Here is an currently published WiKi example of the 1984 Plot.
Will it read the same in 2 to 3 years?

While on the sub-subject of Ministry of Truth

How the Media almost screwed up D-Day 1944.

" JUNE 3, 1944"

‘False Flash’ reports Allies’ landing early

Three days before Allied troops successfully stormed the beaches of Normandy, The AP reported the invasion and it was carried worldwide in
Newspapers and radio stations that the attack was underway after the Associated Press sent out a news “flash” that the Allies were landing in France.

June 5th, 1944 the AP said it was a mistake.
Claiming it was an error after the NAZI's placed its military on high alert. The AP then placed blame on an unknown young clerk practicing up typing AP Telex feeds.

The next day, June 6, the real invasion took and Nazi's re-enforcing the France coastal areas.

One has to wonder how many lives that accidental "warning" cost.

#2 NN2N1,

Likely not a one - Der Fuhrer und Reichkanzler was convinced that the landings were coming to the north at the Pas de Calais. By military logic, that actually made far more sense than Normandy, and the Allied deception plans took advantage of that.

Three days later, when the invasion actually hit, Hitler refused to allow his reinforcements to move until past noon on the 6th....and it was actually IIRC the 7th before he relinquished full control of the reserves to his commanders.

That's not to say that the Allies didn't dodge a bullet that morning, but it appears that even if the Germans noticed, they would have written it off as more deception and misdirection.
