State Department contractor who led Wuhan COVID leak probe shut down by Biden identifies top official who 'downplayed links to China, didn't want to investigate origins and ignored his persistent warnings'

The contractor who led State's task force probing the origins of coronavirus, said former Assistant Secretary of State Chris Ford led to its termination

David Asher said Ford and other colleagues 'deliberately' downplayed links of the inception of COVID-19 to the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China

'My view is it was a biological weapons program,' Asher said

Ford said he did have 'procedural' and 'substantive concerns' about the probe

He blamed Asher's team for keeping the investigation a secret and bypassing State Department and intelligence community experts

Biden's administration shut down the probe

On Wednesday, however, the president announced he tasking the intelligence community in investigating the origins of coronavirus to report back in 90 days
