Nation's No. 1 High School Poised To Pick Students Based On Race, Not Achievement

[Federalist] FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. — After a crusade by educational arsonists targeting the nation’s No. 1 high school, America’s meritocracy is about to go up in flames.

The Fairfax County School Board is set to vote Thursday night to gut the race-blind, merit-based admissions testing process at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology. T.J. is a state-chartered magnet school legislated to serve academically gifted and advanced students. The school board plans to replace the testing with a lottery or subjective selection process akin to a popularity contest.

The results of Freedom of Information Act inquiries reveal the attack on the school was months in the making. The campaign included one of the people most entrusted to protect the school, its students, and its families: the principal, working in sync with public school officials and radical alumni activists. The school principal and district officials didn’t respond to requests for comment.

#1 They are simply reflecting a decades old federal government trend. Appears to work well for them. The five counties surrounding the nation's capital have the highest per capita income in the country.

This has been going on since at least 30 years. In most cities, a gifted and a talented school within a school was set up in a failing school district (read minority) to bring the average scores up in the district. Basically putting the gifted kids in danger to make the school district administrators look good.

What was different about TomJeff is that the gifted had a school to themselves, isolating them from the budding thugs. All good things must be destroyed in Woke America.

#5 I live in Northern Virginia and have been hearing about the recent silliness associated with the gifted school. Sadly the admissions previously were blind (no name, race or gender) only test scores. Can it truly be considered a gifted school In the future and what about the small number of minority students that earned their way in?
