Trump mulling special prosecutor in Hunter Biden case
[NYPOST] President Trump has spoken to advisers about appointing a special prosecutor to further a federal tax fraud probe into Hunter Biden, President-elect Joe Foreign Policy Whiz Kid Biden

’s son, according to a new report.Trump is angry with outgoing Attorney General William Barr’s handling of the two-year-old case — which was kept under wraps by the Justice Department until after the election — and reportedly spoke to White House chief of staff Mark Meadows and counsel Pat Cipollone about the matter, the News Agency that Dare Not be Named reported Wednesday.

The move could set up a showdown between Trump and his incoming attorney general, Jeffrey Rosen, whom he will likely lobby to follow his wishes.

Special prosecutors are protected by a federal law, making it difficult for a president or attorney general to fire them without severe backlash.

Under the regulations, a special counsel can only be fired by the attorney general for specific reasons such as conflict of interest or misconduct — meaning Biden and his as-yet-unannounced attorney general nominee would not be able to swiftly end the counsel’s investigation into the younger Biden’s business deals overseas.

Calls for a special counsel are gaining steam, with leading Republican Sen. Tom Cotton of Arkansas last week calling for the Justice Department to appoint a prosecutor before the president-elect is sworn into office Jan. 20.

Barr on Monday announced he was resigning and will serve his last day on Dec. 23 amid lingering tension between him and the president, meaning Trump would need to push Rosen to appoint someone.

#1 It's almost embarrassing that, win, lose, or draw, Trump is only now doing something.

I find the irony of his "Apprentice" show interesting since he has hired multiple Deep State duds.

#2 Well if Trump doesn't appoint a special prosecutor, odds are pretty good the next guy won't.

#3 Trump appointed AG Barr thinking he would get a straight shooter but instead he got another Swamp Thing. I dunno. Where do you go to find an honest AG?

#4 Trump has endured an ordeal the likes of which no president has ever faced.

Not even Nixon, as hated as he was by the media, faced an attempted coup d'etat by the combined forces of the FBI, CIA, NSA and the preceding POTUS.

The closest precedent is Lincoln, who was forced to arrive in DC in stealth, guarded by Pinkerton. But even Lincoln, despised as he was by Chase, Seward and most of the rest of the establishment of his day, had more loyalists around him than Trump.

That Trump has even managed to survive this unbelievable onslaught with his. composure and sanity intact is a remarkable achievement.
