Andrew McCabe refuses to testify before Senate in person OR remotely, citing COVID risk
|
[BizPacReview] Disgraced former FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe — an Obama holdover who was fired for lying to the FBI — took a page from the Democrat Party’s playbook by using the coronavirus as an excuse to not testify about the spurious origins of the Russia collusion narrative.
McCabe now works for CNN as an analyst. He was set to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee this week as part of the Republicans’ investigation into the dubious origins of the failed Russia-collusion debacle. However, he pulled out yesterday, saying it would "put his family’s health at risk."
McCabe made the announcement shortly after two Republican GOP senators on the Senate Judiciary Committee — Mike Lee of Utah and Thom Tillis of North Carolina — both tested positive for COVID-19.

McCabe’s former boss — fired Obama FBI Director James Comey — testified via videoconference last week. But McCabe refuses to do that.
In a letter to Senate Judiciary Chairman Lindsey Graham, McCabe’s lawyer Michael Bromwich wrote: "It may well be that other members of the Committee and staff who plan to attend the hearing will test positive between now and then, or may have been exposed to the virus and may be a carrier. Under these circumstances, an in-person hearing carries grave safety risks to Mr. McCabe, me, and senators and staff who would attend."
The letter continued: "Mr. McCabe is willing, able, and eager to testify in person about Crossfire Hurricane at any time in the future when it is safe to do so. But he is not willing to put his family’s health at risk to do so. For these reasons, we are unwilling to appear in person for the October 6 hearing; and for reasons of fairness, we are unwilling to testify remotely."
McCabe claimed that a video hearing is not a good idea, and that he prefers to testify in person. But alas! McCabe says the coronavirus threat prevents him from appearing in person.
"A fair and appropriate hearing of this kind — which is complex and contentious — simply cannot be conducted other than in person," he claimed.
Andrew McCabe has repeatedly slammed President Trump after he admitted he lied to FBI investigators regarding his 2016 decision to leak intel to the Wall Street Journal about the Hillary Clinton email probe.
Lying to the FBI — especially if you’re its deputy director — is a serious matter. You can be jailed for 5 years for lying to the FBI, pursuant to 18 U.S.C. § 1001.
McCabe was fired in March 2018 — not by President Trump — but by then-U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions on the recommendation of Obama-appointed Inspector General Michael Horowitz.
In leaking intel to the media, McCabe followed in the footsteps of his former boss, fired Obama-appointed FBI director James Comey, who admitted he had a friend leak info to the New York Times.
McCabe’s excuse that he was "confused and distracted" when he misled investigators is reminiscent of the "dog-ate-my-homework" excuse made by Democrat Senator Dianne Feinstein in January 2018.
Feinstein, 87, said she unilaterally leaked Senate Judiciary Committee testimony to the media because she had a cold that "slowed down my mental facilities."
