Terrifying moment police officer is set on fire during violent protests in Mexico over the death of a man in custody who was arrested for not wearing a face mask

Protesters gathered in Guadalajara, Jalisco, on Thursday to demand answers after Giovanni López died in custody on May 5

A male demonstrator dumped flammable liquid on a cop and set him on fire during the mass gathering

Several buildings were also vandalized and set on fire during hours of unrest sparked by a video that showed cops beating López on May 4

López was reportedly detained for not wearing a face mask in the Jalisco city of Ixtlahuacán de los Membrillos

López died at a local hospital the following day from a brain injury

The arrests of three cops, including the chief of the Ixtlahuacán de los Membrillos Municipal Police, were announced Friday
