Colorado boy, four, dies of flu after his mother took the advice of anti-vaxxers on Facebook and refused to give her son Tamiflu

A mother-of-four in Colorado was prescribed Tamiflu for her entire family when some of her children got flu
Her four-year-old did not test positive for flu at the time but developed symptoms
The mother posted in the anti-vaxxer Facebook group Stop Mandatory Vaccination looking for advice
She wrote that she never picked up the prescription but was 'treating' her children with peppermint oil, vitamin C and lavender
Of the 45 commenters, no one suggested medical attention, advising breastmilk, thyme and elderberries instead
The four year old suffered a seizure and was diagnosed with influenza B at the hospital
After four days fighting for his life, the little boy died of flu

#5 Tamiflu will not work if too late used if at all. Flu outbreak in our area. Schools closed. Clinics unable to help. Just throw anything and hope it works. 7 cases reported in Morgantown West Virginia of the Chinese bug. In my opinion Sepsis involved eventually. You go against the system at your own peril. Stacked deck.

#9 I belive ( I am not a Dr.) Tamiflu is not effective after 48 hours from the onset of symtoms. The 4YO started showing symtpoms after the Rx was written so it would have been effective.
It is also pretty expensive - you have to wonder if that play a role. Pepperment oil anv Vitaman C are much cheaper.

But is it a prophylactic as well as reducing symptoms.
