US Navy confirms the 18 fast-attack craft seen in satellite footage swarming the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln in the Strait of Hormuz earlier this month WERE Iranian

- At least 18 Iranian small boats were photographed on December 4 sailing alongside the USS Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group, US military confirms
- The strike group which sailed through Strait of Hormuz consists of aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln; the USS Leyte Gulf; and the USS Farragut
- The images, which were taken by a private company using commercial satellites, shows a few of the Iranian boats get as close as 1,000ft to the American vessels
- US military says that the Iranian boats acted within 'normal behavior patterns', contradicting claims by pro-Iran media that the ships 'harassed' US vessels
- The Strait of Hormuz is considered the world's most important oil artery as about a fifth of the world's oil passes through
