WaPo does multipage article about a hate crime hoax

apart from gratuitous anti Trump inserts and some PC stuff about how hoax hate crimes hurt minorities (it is the WaPo after all), it is a pretty good report -- it covers how the cop figured out it was a hoax and how he got the perp to confess
‘Heil Trump’ and an anti-gay slur were scrawled on an Indiana church right after Trump’s election. The investigation led to an unlikely suspect — and the discovery of a hate crime hoax.

That’d be Nathan Stang, the gay, Trump-hating music director of the vandalized St. David’s Episcopal Church.
