Greta's zero carb yacht will require some air plane flights for crew
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Greta Thunberg's two-week trip across Atlantic in 'zero-carbon yacht' may generate more emissions than it saves as two of the crew have to FLY to New York to bring the boat back to Europe...

'We added the trip to New York City at very short notice, and as a result two people will need to fly over to the US in order to bring the boat back,' a Team Malizia spokeswoman told the Times.

She added: 'The world has not yet found a way to make it possible to cross an ocean without a carbon footprint.'

And a further two sailors who are currently on board the Malizia II with Greta may use air travel to get back to Europe.
below is the home page of the yacht - personally, I wouldn’t want to spend more than a few hours on this boat

#1 She added: 'The world has not yet found a way to make it possible to cross an ocean without a carbon footprint.'

Well, there were the Nina, Pinta and Santa Maria. Then there was the Mayflower, not to mention all the Viking ships and don't forget the Polynesians who sailed from Tahiti to Hawaii. These people used no fossil fuels, only wood, canvas, raw courage and seamanship.

But this is not to denigrate the Malizia II. It is a sleek, high tech racing yacht, probably designed more for speed than comfort. Even if they're letting little Greta ride along, and even if they used a few petroleum products in its construction, it is still an extremely cool sailboat.

When I first heard this story there were few details so I got the impression that the girl would sail solo like some girls her age have done. But those girls practiced and studied sailing since they were little. Sailing is their primary interest, not lecturing grown ups on complex subjects of which they have no understanding and trying to sell their mother's book.

Then after seeing pictures of the boat under sail I realized, little Greta will be no more than excess baggage on this voyage.

I wonder if she has ever experienced seasickness.
