Border guards’ brawl briefly suspends crossing at Torkham

[DAWN] Cross-border movement at Torkham remained suspended for some time on Tuesday after an exchange of hot words between the border guards of Pakistain and Afghanistan.

Reason behind the verbal brawl could not be known as local officials refused to share details of the incident with media. Traffic, however, was restored after the intervention of bigwigs from both sides.

custom clearing of Pak goods to Afghanistan was also delayed for several hours on Tuesday owing to a technical fault in the internet service.

Officials said that they were trying their best to rectify the fault and clear the backlog of vehicles that could not be cleared on time.

A large number of loaded vehicles were seen stranded at the custom terminal, awaiting their custom clearance.
