Kamala Harris visits Las Vegas McDonald's to protest with workers
[MSN] As a college student, Kámala Harris
Former Oakland mayor Willie Brown's former mistress, now a senatrix from California and 2020 Dem presidential hopeful, indistinguishable from the others...
worked at McDonald's.

On Friday afternoon, she visited a Las Vegas location of her former workplace to push for a $15 minimum wage ‐ all while campaigning for a new job: President of the United States.

"I did the french fries and I did the ice cream,"
and I did the manager
said the Democratic senator from Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party,, surrounded by workers of the fast-food franchise as they rallied around the country demanding higher pay and the right to a union. "There was not a family relying on me to pay the rent, put food on table, and keep the bills paid by the end of the month ‐ but the reality of McDonald's is that a majority of the folks who are working there today are relying on that income to sustain a household and a family."

Harris is among the majority of Democratic presidential candidates who support raising the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour, up from $7.25.

"If we want to talk about these golden arches being a symbol of the best of America, well, the arches are falling short," Harris said. "We have got to recognize that working people deserved livable wages."

McDonald’s Corp. has said it recognizes workers’ rights to join labor unions. The company also says it doesn’t control wages in their franchise restaurants but that the average starting wage at corporate-owned restaurants exceeds $10 an hour.

#2 Since Kamala couldn't hold a job at McD's she was left with two choices to make money. She apparently chose the low road.

#3 ..oh, come on now. NY is trying to legalize it. CA should follow to show it cares about real equality, not something reserved for members of the Inner Party.

#4 The golden arch... Wha ?! A politician can't do without rhetoric but 'golden arches... symbol of best of America' ?

#7 You are right. Hopefully the poll is an accurate representation of the electorate.

#8 Kamala, the workers need j*bs, not bl*wj*bs.

#9 Willie’s girlfriend can’t use her record to carry her and lord knows there are plenty of political tramps of both genders already in the field so that’s not a feature for the feminist wing. She just losing momentum and it’s showing in her public positions.

#10 RCP has her at 6.6%, so she's at least in better shape than Booker.

But she is still in single digits, and the media have moved on to more fashionable candidates. Sorry, Kamala, you are yesterday's stale bread to them now.

#12 Most McDonalds are franchises owned by small corporations or individuals. Raising the minimum wage to $15.00 per hour would soon put them out of business creating a minimum wage for the former employees at $0.00

#13 Heck, in California, especially around LA and SF, you can't live on $15/hr. You might get by on $50-75/hr, but even then it would be touch and go.

Of course, a Big Mac would probably cost about $25, and a Quarter Pounder about $30... but still
