Turkish Court Accepts Indictment Against 16 Over Gezi Protests - Report

and 15 others over the 2013 Gezi protests, Kavala's lawyer said on Monday.
| Over 3,000 have been arrested and hundreds convicted of protesting against Sultan Erdogan I “the much beloved” taking Gezi Park in Istanbul by eminent domain, the latest step in the Erdoganification of Turkey. Over 3.5 million Turks protested across the country at that time, though we have since seen the protests were to no avail. |
The Istanbul chief prosecutor is seeking aggravated life sentences for the 16 defendants on charges of financing the mass protests and attempting to overthrow the government, state-owned Anadolu agency reported last month.
