'I am done after May': Danica Patrick, 35, tearfully announces that she will retire following next season's Indianapolis 500

- Patrick broke down in tears during retirement announcement on Friday

- Patrick said that she will participate in next year's Dayton and Indianapolis 500

- Patrick would not reveal who she will drive for in either race next year, but Chip Ganassi Racing is the likely ride at Indy

- Patrick is the only woman to have led laps in both the Daytona 500 and the Indianapolis 500

#1 It's just as well - she's an average NASCAR driver involved in nearly every major wreck in a sport that's a) losing ratings and b) other career drivers (Kenseth, Dale Jr, Edwards who walked away last year) who are being replaced with drivers who'll accept 1/2 their salary.

#6 What I'd give to be an avg NASCAR driver. Make 15-20 mil a year, retire in 5-6 years and sit on my ass. Least I got the last part right.
