Cleveland Browns' Isaiah Crowell Forced to Apologize for Posting Pic of Cop Getting His Throat Cut

[PJ] Cleveland Browns running back Isaiah Crowell apologized Monday for posting an Instagram illustration of a police officer having his throat slit by a hooded figure.
Crowell removed the image shortly after posting it.

The post's caption read: "They give police all types of weapons and they continually choose to kill us....#Weak"

In a statement, Crowell said it was an "extremely poor decision" in response to police shooting and killing Alton Sterling and Philando Castile last week. The post was made before five Dallas police officers were killed last Thursday, according to Cleveland.com.

Appears local police threatened to pull protection from Cleveland's FirstEnergy Stadium.

#1 ...The CPD is tough, loyal, and faithful unto death of the people and city it serves.

They can also be remarkably unpleasant people when annoyed. With everything else on their plate right now, Mr Crowell's actions could not have gone over well at all.

#5 Crowell was thrown out of the U. of Georgia after a serious scrape with the law. He attended a lesser school and was not drafted. He was picked up as a free agent by the (hopeless and hapless) Cleveland Browns.

#6 Don't "threaten" to pull police protection,just do it. Now. Then see what Crowell & the Browns do, & adjust accordingly.

"If that man needs to make this right, he needs to make a grand gesture," Loomis [head of CLE police union] said.

He called for Crowell to apologize in person to the family of police officers killed in Dallas and donate to their families.

If Crowell does not do that, then Loomis called on the Browns organization or the NFL to sanction Crowell.

If none of that happens, Loomis said he will resort to rallying his officers to refuse to work security for the Browns by adopting an "official union policy" not to work security for the team.

"If the Browns don't think I can get this done, I've got some swamp land in Florida to sell them," Loomis said.

The Browns on late Monday issued a statement of their own, calling a written apology for Crowell's post "insufficient."

"We have spoken to Isaiah regarding his extremely disturbing and unacceptable social media decision,'' the Browns said. "It was completely inappropriate and we have made him aware of our high level of disappointment. Isaiah has apologized but also knows that just an apology is insufficient and that he must take steps to make a positive difference after a very negative and impactful post.''
