Sen. Ted Cruz: 'I don’t trust Republicans'
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) said Wednesday that he doesn’t trust members of his own party to negotiate a budget conference report.

Cruz's remark came after Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said he thought it was “bizarre” that a member of his own party was objecting to forming a conference committee with the House to work out a budget.

McCain said the objections suggested Senate Republicans didn’t trust House Republicans to hold the party line in negotiations.

“Isn’t it a little bizarre, this whole exercise?” McCain said after Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) objected to going to conference. “What we’re saying is that we don’t trust our colleagues on the other side of the Capitol.”

Cruz responded that he doesn't trust Republicans.

“The senior senator of Arizona urged senators to trust House Republicans ... and frankly, I don’t trust Republicans,” Cruz said. “It’s the leaders of both parties that got us in this mess. ... A lot of Republicans were complicit in this spending spree.”

McCain said a “small minority of the minority” was blocking progress on the budget and a return to regular order.

But Rubio and Cruz argued that Democrats are trying to use budget reconciliation rules as a back-door way to raise the debt ceiling with just 51 votes, essentially giving "Democrats a blank check." The federal government is expected to reach the debt ceiling this fall.

Senate Democrats have asked to go to conference on the budgets 10 times, and Republicans have objected to each request.

#1 True enuff.

The US Debt is already over US$17.1Trilyuhn-n-climbing, but the GOP-DEMS are still using the US$16.7Trilyuhn figure from two weeks ago.

#2 Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) said Wednesday that he doesn't trust members of his own party to negotiate a budget conference report.

It's all an intentional labeling confusion. They are not liberals, they're socialists. They are not Republicans, they are members of the Beltway Party. Once you tagged the individuals with their true status, it become much easier to read the program for the game.

If past performance is any indicator, Cruz is certainly correct in his assessment.

#4  They are not Republicans, they are members of the Beltway Party

Too easy and trite a generalization.

Think of it more along the lines of the Senate Republicans using Napoleonic tactics in modern warfare. They religiously hew to the traditional political give-and-take-let's-make-a-deal process; the horse-trading where no one side completely wins or loses.

They don't want to hear that the horse died forty years ago.

#6 welcome to the club.

As far as i can see the only difference between Trunks and Donks is the Donks tell the truth and the GOP lies. Donks tell you up front they're out to screw you and they do; Pubs say they aren't and yet they do it, too.

Washington had it right when he said the greatest threat to the republic was "factionalism"... his word for political parties.

Stage one: create a party to fight for some principle.
Stage 2. Consolidate power to achieve those goals.
Stage 3: protect that power at all costs.

A hundred years from now the Tea Party will be as bad as the Dems... or at least the GOP... the ballistics of human politics...

Dear Mr. McCain,

The majority of the people from the second largest state in the Union sent a representative to reduce the federal deficit.

You come to Dallas. Houston, or anywhere in Texas to see us if you have a problem with that.

Regards,
Texas

#9 Ted Cruz's has demonstrated good judgement in nt trusting Republicans. I expect Demcrats to ignore the constitution and screw America. It is when so called conservatives do it that infuriates me.
