Mexican security forces seized a total of 2,879.5 kilograms of marijuana, 1,188.5 kilograms of cocaine, 5.9 kilograms of crystal methamphetimine and 2.7 kilograms of heroin in counternarcotics operations since July 16th.
  • Policia Federal agents arrested seven individuals they say were members of the Caballeros Templarios (Knights Templars) drug/criminal gang in Apatzingan, Michoacan July 16th. The suspects were all said to be working in the Caballeros Templarios enforcement section, including the leader, Faustino Pacheco Torres, AKA El Pariente, 36. Also arrested were Asuncion Vazquez Pacheco,AKA The Chompiras, 30, propaganda chief, Alejandro Lopez Gomez, AKA El Chore, 23, Ramon Contreras Rios, AKA El Alacrän, 35, Alfonso Rojas Amezola, AKA El Poncho, Mauro Salvador Espinoza Aguilar, AKA El Matón, 19, and Julian Arturo Camacho Rojas, AKA El Chupon. Agents also seized seven AK-47 assault rifles, seven .38 caliber pistols, 35 weapons magazines, four white robes with a red cross, 20 handbooks entitled "Los Caballeros Templarios", an advertising banner and tactical gear.

  • Policia federal agents arrested seven individuals they say were part of La Linea criminal group in Chihuahua state. The arrests took place July 15th incidental to a traffic stop in which federal agents ordered the driver of a Ford Mustang to stop near the intersection of calles Paseo del Sur and Mar del Sur in the Parajes del Sur colony of Juarez, Chihuahua. Agents seized 20 kilograms of marijuana, an amount of cocaine, and an amount of crack cocaine. Arrested were Yanet Estrada Araceli Romero, AKA La Gorda, 20, Felipe Lopez, AKA El Pelon, 31, Jesus Daniel Gutierrez Rivera, 18, Raul Acosta Ontiveros, AKA Rulas, 25, Rodolfo Arenas Flores, 18, Uriel, a minor, 15 and Raymundo, a minor, 16.

  • Policia Federal agents exchanged gunfire with suspect kidnappers in Morelia, Michoacan July 19th, arresting three individuals and freeing a hostage. The hostage was an unidentified attorney abducted in Moroleon, Guanajuato as he was talking on his cell phone. The investigation led agents to a safe house in Purembe colony, where agents came under gunfire briefly. Arrested were Juan Omar Hernandez Garcia, AKA El Omar, 27, Prudencio Cuevas Gonzalez, AKA El Chispa, 25, Fernando Orozco Gonzalez , AKA El Fernando, 35. The detainees were all members of the Caballeros Templarios (Knights Templars) criminal group. Agents also seized four handguns, two weapons magazines, 18 rounds of ammunition, various documents, one Mercedes Benz and one Volkswagen Jetta.

  • Policia Federal agents at the Tijuana, Baja California International Airport arrested two women and seized 2.2 kilograms of crystal methamphetimine and 2.7 kilograms of heroin July 20th. The two detainees, Rivas María Guadalupe Cervantes, 32 and María de la Luz Buenrostro Sanchez, 22, had the drugs taped to their abdominal areas.

  • Policia Federal agents seized 121.3 kilograms of cocaine at a checkpoint on Kilometer 243 of the Tepic-Puente Talisman road near Tapachula, Chiapas and arrested two individuals. Using a mobile x-ray system agents detected irregularities on a Kenworth rig hauling cattle, which turned out to be drugs. Arrested were Sergio Armando Estrada, 29, and Millan Trujillo Jesus Cortez, 33.

  • A unit of the Mexican 2nd Military Zone discovered 639.5 kilograms of marijuana near Rosarito, Baja California July 15th. The unit was on patrol near the Ejido Venustiano Carranza when it observed the drugs hidden between some abandoned buildings in the area.

  • A Mexican Army unit in Sonora Seized 2,220 kilograms of marijuana and detained one unidentified individual July 15th. The unit established a checkpoint on Kilometer 176 of the Federal Highway 2 between Sonoyta and San Luis Rio Colorado, Sonora. The truck transporting the marijuana was bound from Mexico state to Mexicali, Baja California and was hidden amongst wooden crates.

  • A detachment of the Mexican 45th Military Zone seized 114.3 kilograms of cocaine and 3.7 kilograms of crystal methamphetimine at a checkpoint ion Sonora state. The unit set up a checkpoint on the Golfo de Santa Clara to San Luis Rio Colorado, Sonora highway where they searched a truck with the drugs. One unidentified individual was arrested at the scene.

  • A Mexican Army unit in Chiapas state seized 936 kilograms of cocaine July 17th. The unit set up a checkpoint near Tonala, Chiapas where they searched a truck which had several cardboard boxes hidden in the cargo area. The truck was from Ciudad Hidalgo, and was bound for Mexico City when it was stopped. One unidentified individual was arrested at the scene.

  • A detachment of the Mexican 17th Military Zone seized a large amount of chemicals they say were to be used in production of synthetic drugs in Queretero, Queretero July 20th. Seized materials included 787 metric tons of phenylacetamide in 25 kilogram sacks, 52.5 metric tons of tartric acid in 25 kilogram sacks, 1,317 200-liter drums with fertiamina, 271 200-liter drums with benzyl chloride, 52 200-liter drums each with fenilacetato de izobutilo and chlorotoluene, and 853 containers with 25,890 liters of various liquid chemicals. The warehouse where the chemicals were stored was in the Benito Juärez industrial zone of Queretero.

  • A unit of the Mexican 2nd Military Zone seized 16.9 kilograms of cocaine in a raid in Mexicali, Baja Califiornia July 20th. The unit was sent to a workshop on a citizen's complaint in El Papago colony of Mexicali. Soldiers also arrested 11 suspects, and seized four vehicles, one handgun, one weapons magazine and nine rounds of ammunition.

Troops of the Mexican II Military Region found a marijuana plantation near Ensenada municipality in Baja California July 17th. Reports say the total amount seized was 120 metric tons (120,000 kilograms). Soldiers destroyed the plantation and incinerated the marijuana at the scene.
