#1 Something is rotten in Rotterdam.

From another article: after an off-duty deputy reported a “large crowd”.

From this article: Fight occurred because... canceled a planned after party because the event hosts failed to hire an off-duty deputy.

Seems like the Deputy who they were going to hire was there, and for whatever reasons declined the gig, and then called in backup b/c of a large unruly crowd getting pissed off that the event was canceled b/c of the deputy declined to provide the security - which had to be last minute b/c #1 the deputy was onsite, #2 the party go'ers never got a cancelation notice.

#3 Canceling an event at the last minute because of "security" issues is a time honored campus technique for shutting down, ie censoring, speakers who the delicate snowflake ears can't handle. If the off duty guy saw stuff that put up a red flag for him, so be it.

#5 I'll go with Park monitored the reservation, saw that the number of attendees was going to go past occupancy and safety, saw that beefs were already going, and said nah.

Get the feeling one of the few diverse people there was thrown through the window?
