The sequel to a popular table top Gloomhaven, during design it started to get out that some of the storyline decisions led to consequences which triggered people like making one choice which leads to people burning to death in a house. Also big at the time was why so racists against orcs and the whole Tolkein racism tropes.

So one day, out of the blue, and this is post-Floydenal, the backers get a nastygram from the 'creator' not only saying that they hired a diversity panning scheme, but that if you (the backer) are not 110% with a BLM struggle session then you aren't welcome here.

The fallout was epic. Paraphrasing major topics:

"I'm supposed to spend 40 some hours on a nerfed story line which all leads to the same conclusion I'm the bad guy all along? Refund."

"An already overdue project further delayed now because script and character re-writes? Refund."

"So if I join a table and am not an exact echo of the game narrator, I'll get shit on the whole time? Refund."

"This game is overdue not because you are working hard on it, but out rubbing elbows with people who say Gloomhaven wasn't as good as everyone remembers, so buy this game. Doesn't sound like you are taking your own work seriously. Refund."
