#4 We seen this movie: (alleged) victim files ridiculous lawsuit and wins ridiculously large sum as jury "sends a message" to the disfavored party.
On appeal, suit is either tossed for being stupid or penalty is reduced to actual damages.
In the meantime, the process is the punishment + "Evil Person, who is charged with umpteen felonies.." headlines.
