#1 Should be easy enough to fix the bore evaluator. Hope they have some new, hot AT rounds because, whatever the planners think, it will be used as a tank when the Abrams is elsewhere.

#3 The Daily Fail first breathlessly tells us the non tank tank will replace the Abrams. Then it tells us it won't replace the Abrams.

None of the "new technology" that the Fail reports is new. 105mm guns have been around since before WW2, night vision since the 1950s, and so on.

#4 But, it will be a flying electric tank, made in China...

#6 Why is my first impression that of the Armada?

Ever since the Abrams replaced the Cold War-era M60 Patton, shuttling tanks across the globe has been a persistent problem for the US military.

But since it is classified as a golf cart, there are no export restrictions.

The M10 Booker is named after World War Two Infantryman Private Robert Booker, who died on April 9, 1943, and Staff Sargeant Stevon Booker, a tanker who was killed in Baghdad on April 5, 2003.

That's gay.

#9 From what I have heard from military sources is this is a modern Sheridan. Designed to be air mobile and follow in light units and engage IFV/APCs and fortified hardpoints. So light tank, but won't replace the Abrams.

We'll see if it works as the Sheridan was a huge piece of shit and even the 82nd hated it.

#11 /\ What #9 DV said: this a lighter 'strategic mobility' asset and something for the Light Divisions. It kinda sorta does those direct fire close support missions that tanks do ...and yes, from time to time it will have to play with the Big Boys™. The question is 'Where? and Why?' it does: in forests and close terrain the 105mm should work okay but on the plains of Kansas, Iraq or the Ukraine that bigger, harder hitting M-1 just has a certain charm it can't match.

#12 ...and yes, the M551 Sheridan was a gold-plated dog turd. Fire the high dollar Shillelagh missile or the 152mm stubby main gun which "The recoil from the gun throws all the missile optics off, limiting the use of the M551 to either anti-tank or bunker buster".
