...Remember what MT Pinatubo did to Clark AB in the Philippines in the early 90s.

Right after the USAF declared as a matter of policy that nothing short of a nuclear weapon could completely incapacitate a modern base, we lost three in a row (two to hurricane, one to volcano.) And just recently, Tyndall AFB FL was just about leveled from a hurricane and Offutt AFB NE was knocked out for more than a year by flooding.
