#3 Not unusual. Strike plans are always asked for when there is threats to the US or allies. Usually it isn't the president, but an aid to the joint chiefs or some other bigwig so they can look over it and have answers if the president asks for options.

This may also be someone's game of playing the same cards the Mullah's have been engaged in. Threats and denouncements. Two can play that game. Leaks like this have more impact in Tehran than theirs in the Swamp.

#10 Mullah Richard, I agree. We should have plans to invade antarctica and update them occasionally. Doesn't help to let that slip once in awhile to remind Iran how unsafe they really area if the US decides to end them.

#11 Usually the Junior officers are given the allies to plan the invasion, since it is a good starting point as we know their strengths and the risk of actual conflict is low. Provides good training for real plans in the future. Also if we have to pull something out right quick to invade Norway we at least aren't starting from zero.
