#2 Well, let's be honest, socialism is legitimately popular in Venezuela. They voted for this. And it *did* help a lot of people in the bottom of society.

The squawking we hear is from the people who lost out. I'm no friend of socialism but if that's what they choose then so be it. Frankly, it's very useful to have Venezuela around so that we can point to it any time someone wants to implement socialism here.
