Cheerful image, that. Just squirming in my chair, myself. Got me wondering what it might be like if Iowa were to fire a round out to sea once in a while. Weekly, say. Standing room in the turret? Messages scribbled on a shell? I'm crazy cheap and I'd pay an embarrassing amount of money for that. Probably turn a profit. I know it can't happen, and more or less why it can't, but wow... if I ran the zoo!

#6 AlanC, 1) How much would you lend me? 2) I have nothing against fish, or Catalina, so I got a little more into the landward possibilities than was probably healthy. First thought was (naturally) a broadside at Malibu, but that's hopeless, assuming 24 mi range. Ditto the Hollywood Sign. Hollywood & Vine? Maybe barely, but that'd break Rantburg rules. Dodger Stadium (empty, of course) presents the dreadful possibility of a shortfall on Chinatown, City Hall, or even Skid Row. Various hillsides and golf courses? Kinda boring. So let's say Santa Monica: Over Torrance or whatever and straight up several miles of beach (does the 4th work for you?), over the Pier, and kersplash. Goosebumps I've got.

#7 Speaking of targets on the Left Coast, after I had finished with Hollyweird and West LA, I think it might be a real knee-slapper to toodle on up the coast and take a couple of potshots at Pelosi's digs and DiFi's Manse.

Watching the drone videos of San Fran Nan's smoldering ruin would warm the cockles of my black little heart.
