#2 What can't go on for ever, won't. The underlying assumption of all these special interest groups is the environment they exist in will go on forever. And then there were those who were absolutely surprised when the Soviet Union collapsed. If and when that happens here, there, anywhere, all those special interest groups will move from snowflakes to scapegoats. The more animus they build, the more the consequences they will reap. That's history.
