#1 one of the shifts in the Boko Haram uprising is that non govt militia are doing most of the actual fighting against Boko Haram

among the results of this shift is that Boko Haram is probably losing fighters faster than new ones can be recruited

another result is that somewhat fewer of the casualties are non combatants (although it is still at least 25% or more)

decrease in BH fighters is not entirely good news -- some of the dead will be cannon fodder who were just weighing down the more skillful killers
