#2 Build a megalopolis in a desert environment and wonder why there are period of critical water emergencies. You would think the Californista Greenies would have adopted the policies from elsewhere in that developers can't build unless they can show where they get 'new' water from. Depresses development, but keeps the population relative to what the land can really sustain.

#3 If you can't bring water to the city, bring the city to the water...

#4 Well, there was this spate of Progressive work projects that created a system that channeled water from where it was, to where it wasn't. Unfortunately much of it was either destroyed or rendered legally-destroyed by Progressives a little more almost a century later.

#5 Right on, P2K. Won't stop 'em though.

#6 I was down in the SF Bay Area for a family emergency during Christmas. I returned back to Alaska on New Year's Eve. On the way north we flew over Lake Shasta reservoir behind Shasta Dam, and Mt. Shasta. I was amazed at the almost total lack of snow on the mountain and how low Lake Shasta's water level was. Here is a picture of Mt. Shasta from the plane window.

There are always periods of drought coming from time to time. If you do not allow for it, nobody to blame for it except yourself.

#7 Ditto to comments about periodic drought. If you build out during the fat times, the lean times are going to bite you.

But thanks to 5th grade geography class, I notice Cali is sitting next to one big-ass body of usable water... if you don't mind building a few nuke-powered desalination plants. In your face, rising sea levels!

#8 San Diego north has a DeSal plant coming online (seems like a no-brainer, no?) but the enviros fought it tooth-and-nail

#9 Problem isn't the lack of water sources, it's the greenies artificial limitations on developing alternative sources, as well as their screwing with what normal/natural sources they have. They are also running out of water they can steal from the Colorado river.Actions have consequences: let them suck dust and smoke until they learn.

#11 I was fortunate with a clean window on the plane, and I have a good iPhone 4s camera lens.
